Denise Sowders, M.Ed.
Executive Director/Licensed Child Placing Administrator
Denise Sowders serves as the Executive Director of AIM Adoptions and as a Licensed Child Placing Administrator. For over 20 years, she has faithfully followed God’s call to serve children and families through the ministry of adoption.
Her journey began after adopting her daughter through AIM, leading her to step into this work with both personal passion and professional dedication. Denise holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Counseling and Development, equipping her to lead with both compassion and expertise.
As a mother of four through both international and domestic adoption, Denise brings a deep understanding of adoption and a heart for ministry. She is committed to walking alongside families with grace, wisdom, and Christ-centered love.
Macey Sowders
Administrative Assistant
Macey was adopted from AIM in 2002. She is going to college and working here part-time. She speaks at our meetings as an adult adoptee from a transracial adoption. She loves Messi and Soccer and her friend's group "The Golden Girls!
Gail Collins
Office Manager
Gail did not realize she was applying at a place near and dear to her heart. Having worked with AIM many years ago as a client, she returns with office management experience. It was definitely God’s plan that she understands what a birth mother goes through and feels. Gail volunteers at several non-profit ministries. She is married to the love of her life! If you can keep her slowed down enough, she will be glad to tell you about her children and grandchildren. She is a fantastic addition to the AIM ministry (especially her organizational skills)!
Khadijah Knighten
Khadijah Knighten has a heart for women and families and a deep passion for walking alongside those facing an unplanned pregnancy. With a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she brings both professional knowledge and genuine compassion to every relationship she builds.
Khadijah lovingly supports women who are considering an adoption plan, offering a safe, understanding, and judgment-free space. From the moment you find out you are pregnant and for as long as you need afterward, she is there—to listen, to care, and to support you.
She truly values every birth mother she meets and is committed to loving and encouraging you through one of the most important seasons of your life.
